Applications

Radius curb and gutter forms are used primarily to form traffic barriers on the sides of streets, in parking lots, driveways, and roads and to direct water to sewers culverts or ditches. Water can be directed away from the curb (outflow) or towards the curb (inflow) dependent on the curb and gutter configuration.

Specifications/range of sizes

dee radius curb and gutter forms can be fabricated to meet any specification. They are available in variable heights from 4" to 24" in 10-foot sections.

dee radius curb and gutter profiles are determined by city, county or state specifications and can vary widely per application.

Radius curb and gutter forms - illustration

There are 5 basic industry-standard types of radius curbs:

  1. Vertical face - with the front and back of the curb set up at 90° angles,
  2. Battered face - with the back of the curb set at a 90 ° angle and the front at less than a 90 ° angle to the back form,
  3. Bottom radius - is a curb face with a radius formed into the bottom of the curb,
  4. Top and bottom radius - a curb face with a radius formed into the top and bottom of the curb,
  5. Drive over - a curb face with a slow and gradual batter allowing traffic to role or drive over this curb profile

The drive over profile only requires a front form and a back form spaced by division plates that are used as templates for striking off the drive over profile.

Features and benefits

ddee radius curb and gutter forms:

  • Have few moving parts other than the heavy-duty wedges that lock the form securing to the form pin for firm, steady, fastening providing fast and easy set up and removal reducing labor.

  • Stay in line regardless of grade due to easy form height adustability, allowing easy curb and gutter forming of non-graded areas saving the time and labor required to completely grade the surface prior to concrete placement.

  • Are engineered to allow the curb face form to be held securely in place by using a top spreader and/or division plates preventing the curb face for moving during concrete placement inuring the placement will meet specifications and pass inspection reducing rework time.

  • Are engineered to allow a fast transition from radius to straight or straight to radius by attaching either a male or female transition form decreasing form set up time and increasing labor efficiency.

  • Are designed to accommodate high strength steel form pins that prevent the form from becoming misaligned during concrete placement insuring an accurate placement each time saving rework time.

  • Are manufactured with 1 to 3 stake pockets making them the strongest concrete placement radius flatwork forms in the industry providing many years, even decades, of useful life minimizing replacement costs.

  • Are all riveted, not welded, like many competitors' forms, increasing form strength and rigidity guaranteeing accurate forming and improving form longevity.

  • Are available with custom-manufactured curbface forms and division plates to match any curb profile specified.

  • Are fabricated out of top grade, high carbon, 11-gauge spring steel that flattens out completely when released and will not kink providing years of useful life.

  • Have double wedge stake pockets riveted to the spring steel approximately every 1.5" providing the contractor multiple staking positions allowing forming up to an 4-foot 6-inch radius.

  • Are engineered to allow a fast transition from radius to straight forms or straight to radius forms by attaching either a male or female transition form decreasing form set up time and increasing labor efficiency. Click here to view transition system set up.

Versus commonly-used wood forming, dee curb and gutter forms:

  • Are an excellent, and superior, alternative since dee's forms are stronger than wood, won't warp, rot, or become useless after 3 to 4 jobs.

  • Are more economical to use since they pay for themselves after 8 to 10 uses.

  • Are faster to setup and take down, making concrete workers more efficient and the job more profitable.
