Standards and codes

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
ANSI is a private, non-profit organization that administers and coordinates the U.S. voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system. The site provides electronic copies of ANSI standards and links to national and international standards organizations.

American Society of Civil Engineers (ACSE)
ASCE represents more than 123,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide, and is America's oldest national engineering society. The site contains a myriad of information and links concerning civil engineering.

American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
ASTM develops standard test methods, specifications, practices, guides, classifications, and terminology covering subjects such as metals, paints, plastics, textiles, petroleum, construction, energy, the environment, consumer products, medical services and devices, computerized systems, electronics, and many others. The site contains a consultants' directory, the ANSI store, and information on quality assurance and training programs.

Building Officials Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA)
This organization is dedicated to preserving the public health, safety and welfare in the built environment through the effective, efficient use and enforcement of Model Codes. The site lists information on certification and training plus how to obtain current BOCA codes.

The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI)
CSI provides technical information and products, continuing education, professional conferences, and product shows to enhance communication among all disciplines of nonresidential building design and construction and meet the industry's need for a common system of organizing and presenting construction information

Council of American Building Officials (CABO)
CABO just merged with ICC. Please reference http://www.intlcode.org/

CABO/ANSI 117.1 – Accessibility and Usable Buildings/Facilities
ICC/ANSI A117.1 provides details, dimensions, and specifications to help building designers develop their plans so that the facility will offer unobstructed entry and ease of use to all users with disabilities.

International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO)
This site is a major source of building and construction codes. The ICBO provides excellent products and services to ensure the public's safety offering a broad variety of certification programs, seminars, CD-ROM codes resources, training manuals, videos, and more.

International Code Council (ICC)
The ICC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing a single set of comprehensive and coordinated national model construction codes. The founders of the ICC are Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA), International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), and Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. (SBCCI). The ICC just merged with CABO.

National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards (NCS BCS)
NCS BCS promotes the development of an efficient, cooperative system of building regulation to ensure the public's safety in all buildings, both residential and commercial.

National Fire Protection Codes (NFPA)
NFPA is a worldwide leader in providing fire, electrical, and life safety to the public. NFPA's mission is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by developing and advocating scientifically based consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education.

National institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
NIST's goals are to ensure recognition and use of U.S. standards domestically and in the global marketplace; promote worldwide acceptance of U.S. test and calibration data to facilitate the marketing of U.S. products; and provide assistance to industry, trade associations, and exporters through its operations, training and information programs.

Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI)
The SBCCI provides technical, educational, and administrative support to governmental departments and agencies engaged in building codes administration and enforcement. SBCCI also provides similar support to others in the building design and construction industry. SBCCI's primary mission since 1940 has been to develop and maintain a set of model building codes for use by local jurisdictions.

Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL)
UL is an independent, not-for-profit, product safety testing and certification organization. UL has tested products for public safety for more than a century. Each year, more than 16 billion UL Marks are applied to products worldwide.
